Old vs. New

Since I'm celebrating my 2 year
blog-o-versary this week, I thought
I'd re-visit a post I made 2 years ago today!!
Organization!!
I love being organized!!
I'm ALWAYS looking for efficient, in arms reach,
in a small space, solutions!!
Wow, that was a mouth full!!
I was looking back at some of my first posts
ever and saw this one: Scrap Space!!
I thought not much had really changed here
in my studio, but upon further looking,
there are a few things added.
This is what it looks like today:
This a pretty good overview!!
I'm currently looking for new storage that
will bring the plastic boxes down to a level
that I can reach them!! I'm short and have a
hard enough time just getting the bottom ones down!!

This is my paper storage. Well, 95% of it!!
There is actually 4 plastic bins on the middle shelf.
Then the 4 - 12x12 bins on the bottom.
Above that is more paper.
As you can see, I have a serious paper problem!!

These upper shelves have been put up since the last post!!
I LOVE them!! They are shallow and hold flowers,
buttons, glimmer mist, and few other important things.
Between the shelves on the wall and the shelves on the
floor, is my fabulous salvation army find!! 3 bucks.
It holds my inks and embossing powders!! LOVE it!!
The bottom sets of drawers hold a variety of things...
adhesive, punches, lettering, journaling spots, ect.

I love that most everything is just an arms lengths away!!
As I said, I'm always looking for awesome
new storage idea's!! I hope to sort out the plastic
box issue soon!! I am also working on a good way
to store my spellbinders dies!!

Thanks so much for stopping by and taking
this little old vs. new journey with me!!
If you have any idea's or suggestions for me...
PLEASE share!! Thank you!!

Until next time...........tootles!!

Storage and Organization

I'm alway in search of next great thing I can use for easy storage. I have such a tiny house that every inch is accounted for!! I had been in search of a small embellies shelf. I happen to stop in at the salvation army one day and saw this cute little shelf. It was sitting on the rack still in the packaging. It was marked as $2.99!! I took it to the register, thinking it was marked wrong and they would tell me so, but it rang up for $2.99!! woo-hoo!! It is about 18 inches tall. It's perfect for all my little things I want to have close by!! Check it out:

In th sudio, we each have our own space. DD and I share a big table. She gets half, and I get half. DH has a little desk in front of the window, that he never uses for anything but piling up stuff he doesn't he want to put away. So I reclaimed it for scrappy stuff. I really wanted a place to put my lovely things that my friends have sent to me as gifts. Plus I could use it for storing more stuff!! He was sweet to let me have my way. He bought the shelf and put it together, and I love it!! Check it out:

More storage!! *L* I had bought these 3 metal canisters for like 75 cents or so here a couple of Christmas' ago. They are about 7 inches tall. I had lace and other embellies stashed in them on a shelf in the closet. I pulled them out and re-invented them!! I went with a cherry theme and added the little glass knobs I got at Joann's for $1 each. I think they turned out so cute!!

Then I had two chipboard round boxes that I wanted to spruce up. I fell in love with these peach roses in lace section at Hobby Lobby. And can you believe it...they were on clearance!! How lucky am I?? *L* So I got 2 yards and transformed my first container into what my DH says looks like a wedding cake!
As for the other chipboard container, I was painting the lid and laid it on the top of the trash can to dry. Well, not thinking we gathered up the trash and took it to the curb. The next day I was ready to work on my container and couldn't find the lid anywhere!! Then I realized what had happened and was so sad. So I had to be creative. Not my best quality. And came up with this: Not bad, huh??
For fun DD and I were altering stuff we could find around the house. I used an old hot coco can for my project!!

And last but not least today, and what really started me on re-inventing all the contaniers I could find, is a paint pail I altered for a very sweet lady over at SB.com!! We were to alter a pail and fill it with $10 worth of goodies. This is what it looked like: Vicki, I'm so happy you liked it!!

Well, that's it for now. Until next time....tootles!!

Scrap Space

I love to look at other peoples scrap space!! I love new idea's for storage and convenience!! I really like to having everything in it's place, so when I'm looking for it, I know exactly where to find it!!

Since we did a house shuffle in July, I got a scrap studio!! DD is quite artistic, so we share the space. She has one side of the room, and I have the other!! DH built us a fabulous working area. It is 4'x 6' long. I love having my space to organize and create!!

I have decided that I love the photo boxes that you can by at HL every now and then 3 for $5. They are great for easy storage...and they are less expensive than real 'scrap' storage. Plus they stack super nice!! In my dream world they would all match, but my mom and my sister both have given me some and since they were free, I'm not complaining. (I guess I could always just paint the printed ones.) I also have quite a few plastic shoe boxes that I got at the dollar store. They stack very nice as well.

At the end of the table are 4 drawers. In the top one I have brads. I sort of had a thing for them and have tons now. To store all my brads, besides the very full drawer, I also have 2 close to my heart organizers that are the bomb!! LOVE them!! I use them for the smaller, plain brads.

In the next drawer down, I have chipboard. Printed, plain, naked...chipboard!!

The next drawer is full of chipboard letters...but not thickers. They have there own space in a large plastic box under the table where I can get them without getting up...yes, I'm lazy!!

The bottom drawer has stickers in it. I don't use a lot of stickers, but every once in a while they're are the perfect embellishment!!

I also have an album cabinate. I love it, but already need another one!! I just love to scrap, what else can I say!!

This is where I keep most embellishements!! Rub-ons (which a really don't like or even use), bling, journaling notes, alphabet letters, 3-d embellies, pens, ect. Also some of my adhesive is kept here.

I have a thing for paper. Anyone else have this issue?? I love all the great prints and textures that they have out these days!! I have some storage for my special papers, or ones I have plans to use right away right beside me under the table. This where I keep paper collections and the embellies that match in drawers here too. I also have a drawer just for my scraps in this. I keep my CM shape cutters in one of these drawers as well. I also have paper storage in the closet on fabulous big shelves that DH built me.

I suppose I could keep going with what is where and such, but that could take a while, so I will just say that I love my space, even though it's not a grand as some of seen, and I...we, spend all our time in here. It has become our new family room!! I love that I can be with my family and be creative all at the same time!!

Thanks for stopping by!! If you have questions, please feel free to ask!! Have a GREAT weekend!!
