Swirlydoos Tags Days 1-5

Swirlydoos featured a "25 Days of Christmas Tags" challenge this month.
I didn't find it until day 10, but I had a BLAST with every single challenge that was posted. I even went back and made the first 9 tags so that I would have a complete set when I was done!! I'm going to post the first 5 tags here today. I will update every day or two until I have them all posted. I won the daily prize twice!! It was way exciting and the prize was a wonderful box of Prima Holiday Bulbs filled with prima flowers, leaves and trims. I kept one box and gift the other to a very dear friend. I was so happy to be able to do that!! I hope you like the tags!!

Day 1: Meaning of Christmas

Day 2: Red or Green Monochromatic (not exactly right, I know, but I like it!)

Day 3: Make it Sparkle (the background is glimmer misted and the flower is sparkle paper)

Day 4: Reindeer

Day 5: Have a Dangler

That's all I'll post right now. Be sure to check back in a day or two for the next 5. I hope everyone had a fabulous Christmas!!

Until next time...........tootles!!

Christmas Sweets

I really enjoy making Christmas goodies every year. We have some that are tradition and to not make them would be un-Christmas. These include mothers super-duper-chocolate cookies, her spicy molasses cookies, Mexican wedding cakes, mice cookies and Vashti's 7 layer bars. I was a bit conservative with my baking this year, but mother was not! We had tons of cookies and candy for her 43rd annual Christmas party! Actually we had enough fudge and candy for 3-4 trays each of the candy:

And about 5 maybe even 6 of the very large cookie tray's:

A couple random close ups of 2 special kinds of cookie/candy that DD and I make each year:

Mice Cookies:

And Bacon and eggs:

We also really enjoy dipping, and eating, chocolate dipped pretzels!! YUMMY!!

Lastly is the cake that DD made for the party. She didn't go all out this year, but I still think it was cute!!

That's it for this time. Since I may not post again before Christmas, I want to wish each and everyone of you a VERY Merry Christmas!! May it be filled with love and happiness!!
Until next time...............Tootles!!

Our Christmas Tree

Well it seems that I haven't posted in a while!! Sorry about that. I guess I didn't really have anything to post. A sign that I need to be into more scrappy stuff, don't you think??
Actually, I have been scrapping. I'm currently doing the 25 days of Christmas Tags that they are doing over at Swirlydoos. It has been so much fun!! I didn't start until day 10 so I had to go back and catch up. I'm so glad to have the challenge. I have really enjoyed all the different things I have made. I will be posting them after I finish the whole series. I can't wait!!

I thought I'd share a picture of our Christmas tree. We put it up on December 12th, our 18th wedding anniversary!! It was a great day!! It snowed!! I was so happy!! We made cookies and did the tree and just had a good day!!
We haven't gotten our Christmas ornaments for this year yet. See, every year we each pick out an ornament that best suits us for the year. We just haven't seen the perfect thing yet. I think we may be running out of time. I'm touch concerned about it!! Anyway.....Our Tree:

I have also been busy making Christmas treats. The ones pictured below are Cupcake Pops. They are strawberry cream cheese. We got the recipe from Paula Dean's website. They were fun...and interesting too!! DD and DH really liked them. DD took them to school for her class party!! They seemed to go over well!! I have also finished 3 pans of fudge and BUNCHES of cookies. I will post pictures of that when mother makes up the cookie and candy trays!! We still have more cookies to make, so this week has just got started!!

That's it at the moment!! I will try to more on time with my next post!!

Until next time............Tootles!!

Merry Christmas!!

Again with the Challenges!!

I've been busy make some cards for more challenges. Here are the ones I have done so far this week!!
This one is for JUGS!! LOVED this sketch!! I had so much fun making this card!! I used Echo Park Wintertime paper. Love this paper!! I stickled the snow swirls, the hat and scarf on the snowman and I used flocking on the mittens. Be sure to stop by JUGS and see what's happening over there!!
http://justusgirlschallenge.blogspot.com/

Next is a card for Card Patterns weekly Challenge.
http://cardpatterns.blogspot.com/ I really liked this sketch too!! I stickled the snowflakes so they would sparkle!! There are so many talented people posting over there. Be sure to stop by and be inspired!!

This one is for Crazy 4 Challenges. http://crazy4challenges.blogspot.com/ When I saw this sketch I immediately had the idea for the card. However, I must say it did not turn out the way I had envisioned it!! *LOL* But it will do!! :)

And lastly....This one is for Crafty Catz challenge. http://craftycatzweeklychallenge.blogspot.com/

That's it for right now. I'm not sure if I will do any other challenges this week or not.
Thanks so much for stopping in to see me. If you have a moment leave me a note!! I love to hear from ya!!
Until Next time......................Tootles and Merry Christmas!!

Our First Snow Celebration

It SNOWED!!! I am so excited!! We have a fabulous tradition that we call "Our First Snow Celebration!" Now dh isn't really into it but I am totally over the top about snow and at the first sight of it, I go all ga-ga!! DD also enjoys the first month or two of winter!! So when she was really little I started this tradition. It doesn't count to just see flakes in the air. We can only celebrate when the snow sticks to the ground. Another rule is, no Christmas movies until it snows.
Our Celebration always starts with me dancing around saying "yippee!!"
Then we make Gingerbread and Orange Fluff!! (this is the part DH likes!! *lol*)
Then we watch "Yogi's First Christmas" movie while we cut out snow flakes!!
And finally we get to eat the Gingerbread!!
All while watching it snow!!
Ah....I love the snow!! I wish it would snow more. All that was gone very quickly!!

**update 12/6 I've decided to enter this LO in the challenge over at Lollipop Crafts (http://lollipopcrafts.blogspot.com/ ) Thanks!! **

I have been wanting to make a banner after seeing all the ones in the gallery at SB. I wanted to do it with mittens, but when I saw these big flakes, I had another idea. I just love how it turned out!! I have it hanging in my studio!! I stickled the chipboard letters. The flower on the S snowflake, was just blah silver, so I inked it blue and put clear embossing powder over it and put the ole heat gun to it. For the holly leaves behind it, I inked them even more silver and used silver embossing powder on them. I was shocked it turned out so good!! Don't ya love when that happens?? Anyway... here it is:

I have been kept busy this week, working on some mini comp books for my mom. She belongs to a sewing guild and wanted to give each of the ladies a little gift at the Christmas party, so she asked me to do these for her. I ended up making her 17!! They were fun and took up my time well. When I had them done, I wanted a way for her to be able to give them without to much work. I was gonna go to the $store and get some little gift bags when I remembered that one of the free cartridges that we just got on our gypsy download was for the tags, bags, and boxes. So I pulled out my old Christmas paper and set to cutting out 17 little gift bags. Glued them together, added ribbon handles, dropped a book in each one, added tissue paper, and wha-la....ready to give as gifts!!

So that was my week!! I didn't really do challenges this week. I was busy with the other things, I suppose!! But it was a fun week and it finally snowed!! I'm sitting here today looking out the window every 3 minutes in hopes that the snow we are to get actually arrives!! So, if you have extra snow where you are, please blow it my way!!

Until next time...........TOOTLES!!
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
