A Gem of a Challenge & Die Cut Dreams

I LOVE the sketch they have up right now over at A Gem of a Challenge!! http://www.pinkgemchallengeblog.blogspot.com/

I could totally picture this in my mind!! I think I will defiantly use this sketch again sometime!! Be sure to check them out!! They have some gorgeous cards up!! Very inspiring!! I didn't make a card, so I won't be entring the challenge there, but still love the sketch and the LO I made from it!!

The pix is of my DD back in '07 with her snow sculpture of a polar bear. She was 10 at the time and her mama was VERY impressed with how well she did with it!! She is actually a very good sculptor, but sadly doesn't really do it anymore!! She has won blue ribbons for her sculptures, so I hope it's still in the back of her mind, and that she will go back to doing again someday!!

I know it's sorta plain, but I still like it!! I hand cut each color and then inked the edges, added stickles for sprinkles and covered the cherry with liquid glass. OOpppsss!! I see it lost it's stem!! Must fix that!!

Flutter By Wednesday & JUGS

This card is made with basic grey patterned paper. I really like the print and have been very sparingly using it!! It's for the Flutter By Wednesday Challenge!! http://flutterbywednesdays.blogspot.com/ Be sure to check them out!! Some really cute things over there!!

This is a little box I did. It's for the challenge over at JUGS. http://justusgirlschallenge.blogspot.com/ We were to use a 3-D holiday embellishment. I made the little hot coco cup and popped it up on pop tape and I used a string of little snowballs for an added cute touch!! The edge also has rick-rack on it!!

It has 4 packages of Hot Chocolate in decorated packs inside. I'm going to give this to a lady at the school who is always doing the little extra things that often get missed and very seldom gets a thank you!!

Die Cut Dreams Challenge

The challenge was 'Anything but a Card." This is my entry. It's a little birdhouse made from a mini milk carton. I got the milk carton pattern at Markwood Designs (http://www.ruthannzaroff.com/mirkwooddesigns/templates.htm). I added the little roof, some pearls, a snowflake, and a little bird. It's tiny, but cute!!

Arts and Craft Fair

Well the day has come and gone!! I feel it went very well. It was actually a fun day!! I was so surprised by the things that sold well and the things that didn't sell well or at all!!

This was one of my tables:

I think it looked like a crowded mess!! Both of my tables appeared this way to me!!

I defiantly could have sold more Movie Cans, Movie Gift Card Holders, Milk Cartons and Rudolf Hershey Bars!! Over all I made about $170, so I was VERY pleased!!

Not sure exactly what to do with all the left overs!! I hate to just box them up and store them forever. Gonna need some nifty creative thinking on this!!

So glad I did this little event, but also very glad that is done!!

I hope to have time to do a couple of challenges this week!!

Challenges

Challenges!! A rather new concept to me. Oh I've seen them all over, but really haven't done that many. That has changed a little. I think it started with the challenges I did for Scrap.Laugh.Love. and these tags. I decided to do a bunch of new and different things to make the tags. A personal challenge of sorts. I had an idea in my head about what they should look like when I was finished and started pulling out supplies.

I started with manila tags. Then I used my sizzix embosser and embossed them. Next I glimmer misted them. I started with candy apple, and then added some gold and some hula hoop green. I thought they looked ok. So then I went on line to find the images I wanted to use. Of course I visited the Graphics Fairy and also googled to come some of them. I also got a little help from a friend to find a couple specific images. I printed them and then embellished them a touch. Now I was ready to put them all together. I added a bit of cream colored lace, the image, some pearls and a flower. Added the ribbon to the top and wa-la....Tags!! It was a challenge for me to do so much to get them to look like I wanted them too, but I was truly happy with the result and will probably try it again!!

So....after challenging myself to make something new, I decided to do a couple challenges on some blogs I check into every so often. Give myself something new to do.

This card is for the challenge over at JUGS ( http://justusgirlschallenge.blogspot.com/ ) We are suppose to make a gate fold card. This one was fun!! You should check them out!! They have some cool stuff on their site!!

This was a challenge. If you've been over to Scrap.Laugh.Love lately, you know they're currently running a Design Team Call. If you haven't been to visit them, be sure to check them out here: http://scraplovelaugh.blogspot.com/2010/10/new-idea-and-new-team.html and consider trying out for the DT. I'm not sure I'm applying yet....so many ladies who do such great work is intimidating!! But I decided to do the challenge involved with the DT call. You were suppose to make a LO, Card or tag using one of the following things: Yarn, Masking Tape, Old CD, Bubble Wrap or Cupcake Wrappers

So....I wanted to see how many of those things I could use to make a card. (You only have to use one of them for the DT challenge) So....I used an old CD for the base of the card, made a flower out of cupcake wrappers, and used yarn to make the center of the flower!! WOW!! I'm really stretching myself!! *LOL* But it was fun!!

Last but not least is another personal challenge: To make a LO of Gracelynn as great as the other one I did. I fell a little short with this one!! The pictures are just so awesome, but I don't think I did them justice. Oh well...It will do!!

And so that's it!!

Only 6 days until the Arts and Crafts Fair. Fingers crossed it's a great success!! I have faith!! I'll tell you how it went next Sunday!! Next Sunday is also the last Nascar Race. Who's gonna win?? I don't know!! Hoping for someone new this year!! None of the top 3 are on my 'good' list, but it will be nice to have it over!! Next year will be even better!! :)

I have to tell you, I am totally in love with this picture!! This is DH's great-niece. Yes, we are to young for great nieces, but they are so precious!! This is little Gracelynn. Since the picture is so sweet, I love how the LO turned out!!

FINALLY

Well....what a week!! I FINALLY got the candy canes I've been searching for!! I suppose the idea of Halloween being over, brought them out!! *L* So....I was able to finish up the last few things for the Arts and Crafts Fair!! Yippee!!

First up is this cute little mouse!! I had made these for DD's class for Christmas a few years ago, and thought they may sell well!! I guess we will soon see, huh? *L*

These I actually saw over at SplitCoastStampers.com They were so cute that I had to try them myself. They are a little different then the ones I borrowed from, but I think they turned out well, and hopefully will sell well, too!!

I FINALLY did a LO of our apple picking. One LO isn't enough!! I need to get on with it!! I have all these great idea's but they are all so time consuming!! *L* I will work up to it soon!!

I actually did this for a challenge over at Scrappy Jo's. They had a online crop yesterday and I had fun working on all the challenges!! You should check them out!! The link is in the right hand column. You may have time to do a challenge or two as well!! (sorry the color is so off on this!!)

This little pumpkin was for a challenge at Jo's too!! I thought it was so cute!! Mary posted a very nice tutorial on making this!! Be sure to check it out and leave her a little comment!!
