Stampin' Sisters In Christ

This week when I went to read
my family was sitting here in the studio
with me, so I read it out loud.
Here's what it said:
Scripture: Galatians 5:1 "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery."

Slavery can take many forms. It may be difficult to think of slavery as affecting us in these modern days. We associate it more with a history lesson – not something that we can relate to in our lives. Yet I, for one, am burdened by a yoke of slavery that prevents me from living in the freedom that Christ created for us. One of the things I struggle with is worrying. Honest to goodness my husband says that if there is nothing to worry about I will worry about not worrying! How is that like slavery you may ask? Well it keeps me from living in each precious moment and being thankful for it. When I worry about everything large and small it also affects my prayer life. I expend such energy on what could go wrong and what might happen that I end up praying for the “what ifs” instead of sending forth my thanks and praise. My life is so good – I am so blessed that my focus should be on that. So this is a burden in my life, not just for me but for those I love.

So today I give thanks! Thanks for our freedom as a country and to our service men and women both here and abroad. Thanks to our Lord for the gift of eternal life.

As soon as I started reading, my sweet
little family started snickering.
They are just sure that
this weeks hostess, Miesje Flach, was writing
MY story!! *LOL*
 I REALLY don't try to worry....but then I worry
that I'm not doing a very good job at not worrying!! *L*
I so relate to this devotion.
I REALLY am gonna work on this worrying stuff!!
After all...God is in control!!

Challenge: Make a red, white and blue thank-you card.

Stampin' Sisters in Christ and Our Daily Bread

Hello everyone!!
So happy you stopped by today!!
GREAT devotion this week, given by Marilynn DeGroot.
All about faith.
Straight up, ladies, I have real faith issues!!
I don't understand it at all!!
Marilynn did a nice job with this devotion.

Scripture: Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things unseen. (KJV)

“You’ve got to see it to believe it.” Have you ever heard that expression? I have a story to share with you. When I was little I was blessed to live near my grandparents and my cousins. One day my sister, my brother and I were playing ball with our cousins in my grandparent’s big back yard. Our game got interrupted when the ball rolled near my grandparent’s Airstream trailer that they stored in their yard for when they went camping. My cousin Alissa touched the trailer as she was reaching for the ball. As soon as she did that, she got a shocking jolt. She jumped back and screamed “I’ve just been shocked!” We gathered around her and taunted “Did not!”, “Did too!” was her response. One by one we ALL had to touch that trailer and get shocked because we had to SEE FOR OURSELVES.
My daughters and I love watching crime tv shows, like CSI. (Probably because my dad is a forensic pathologist and my brother works as a tech in a crime lab.) In all these shows there is a common theme. The police have an idea who committed the crime, but it is their job to collect enough EVIDENCE that the jury will SEE and BELIEVE them.

The scripture I choose to share with you this week is:
Hebrews 11:1 Now FAITH is the substance of things hoped for, the EVIDENCE of things unseen.

How do we get the kind of Faith that is so strong that it is our evidence? The Bible says in Romans 10:17 “So then Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” That is how it starts. We can read the Bible. We can then ask the Lord to help our Faith to grow. Like the apostles did (Luke 17:5 And the apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our Faith.”) and like the father of the possessed child did ( Mark 9:24 Immediately the boy’s father cried out and said, “I do BELIEVE; help my unbelief.”)
My prayer is that God will strengthen your faith this week. My challenge for you is to make a card that shows the “EVIDENCE” that you were the creator by doodling on your card. Here are a few suggestions to get you started: dots, swirls, lines, and faux stitching… I look forward to seeing what you create.

Here is my creation:

I'm also going to add my
It was to be a thank you card!!
Here's what I made:

Stampin' Sisters in Christ!!

it's all about dad's!!
My husband is such a wonderful father!!
I love to listen to him and our daughter
talk about anything!! They are just such amazing
people and I am so blessed to have them
as my little family!!

The devotion this week was given by Lisa Hjulberg.
She picked an awesome verse this week:

Scripture: Ephesians 6:2-4 (NRSV) "Honor your father and mother"--
this is the first commandment with a promise:
{3} "so that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth."
{4} And, fathers, do not provoke your children to anger,
but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

Since next Sunday is Father's Day, I picked making a Father's Day card
(or, alternatively, a card praising our Father in Heaven) as this week's challenge...
you don't want to wait until the day of to make your cards do you? (*wink*)
I asked one of the pastors at my church for a "good" scripture for Father's Day.
He kindly provided me with a few. I chose this one because
it embodies the two sides of fatherhood... both parent and child.

Children are commanded by God to honor their father and mother.
(As a side note, we are taught that this commandment extends to all those in authority over us.)
In this scripture, Paul reminds us of this first commandment
and then exhorts fathers to "not provoke [their children] to anger,
but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord."
In the NIV version, the words are "do not exasperate your children."
The footnote explains this means that
"fathers must surrender any right they may feel they have
to act unreasonably toward their children."
Very good advice, don't you agree?
And, of course, most importantly, fathers are told to raise their children
"in the discipline and instruction of the Lord."

My card for the challenge:

Stampin' Sisters In Christ

Hello!! How is everyone today??
I'm so happy to be able to share the
with you!! I was very surprised to find
that my card from last weeks challenge was
chosen as a shining star today!!
How exciting!! Thanks to those who chose me!!

This week's hostess, Linda Lucas
chose a wonderful and very thoughtful devotion.

Here's what she had to say:
Scripture: “A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.” John 13:34-35

I have always loved this scripture in John 13 - even before I became a Christian I loved to listen to the chorus that is based on this song. I would beg my older brother to sing it whenever he got out his guitar - neither of us knew at that time what an impact it would have on my life.
When you introduce something new - does that mean that the old is replaced - this is something I have heard asked a lot regarding Jesus words - does that mean we are able to stop living by the Ten commandments. The new commandment actually captures the ten commandments in itself-
We can see this when Jesus was questioned by the religious leaders, "Master, which is the great commandment in the law?"

Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God
with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
This is the first and great commandment.
And the second is like unto it,
Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.
\On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
Matthew 22:36-41

The first five commandments are about loving God
and not having any other God's before Him,
the second five are pertaining to loving one another.
We can see that if we live by the new commandment
we are in fact keeping all ten commandments...
perhaps with a new understanding and insight.
It would stand to reason that if we love one another
like Christ has loved us,
then we would not murder, lie, covet, cheat be jealous......

Therefore, we are not exempt from the commands,
and principles to base our lives on,
that are given to us in the Old Testament,
but we are empowered by the love of Christ to live them daily.
This is no longer a task, but a lifestyle.
Will we have lapses - yes - this is inevitable,
but what peace in knowing that as Christians we are not perfect,
but are committed to the process of being perfected -
this understanding alleviates guilt and condemnation.

It is in this action of loving one another,
(and it is an action 'if ye have love one to another')
as He has loved us that people will see that we are His disciples.
People can hear our words but
they see our actions and these can carry the greatest impact....
sometimes I share the FULL gospel better without opening my mouth -
after all, we may be the only Bible people may get to read!

Thanks so much for this, Linda!!
Imagine the amazing world we would be living in in,
if we could all just love each other, support each other and put others first.
It would be a much nicer, happier and loving place to live!!
I hope this little devotion reminds you to love
those around you. Not just those it's easy to love,
but even those who we find hard to love!!
I find it easier to love people I don't know very well.
So there are times when I have to remind myself,
that LOVE is the best way!! Letting certain things go,
and focusing on the good about the person that I am
having a problem feeling loving towards.
Love is actually something that I try very hard to live my life by!!
Love and kindness....even just a smile, to someone
who needs it, whether you know they need it or not,
makes a world of difference!!

The Challenge: Use something new on your project -
it can be a new product, technique, embellishment -
even a colour combo that is new for you - show us what you got!!
For my card this week, I used new lace and pearls.
This is also for Our Daily Bread Challenge.

I hope each of you have a wonderful and love filled week!!
Until next time.............tootles!!
